I am ready to sit out on the deck and enjoy out meals out there. I want to make a cute planter that I can fit around the umbrella post. I have a pattern for some place mats I want to make, but not sure if I can make them for less than what I can buy them in the store.

I was out there yesterday, and Trent just laughed at me, as I had brought out the laptop. Hey, gotta get my computer fix in and enjoy the weather too! Along with the laptop, I had my book and phone.

Have some “single gloves” laying around and want a fun craft to do, try this out…

Materials

        * Single glove
* Needle and thread
* Dry rice
* Hot glue
* Large pom-pom
* Buttons
* Wire
* Ribbon
* Felt

Instructions

1. First, tuck the thumb inside the glove and use a needle and thread (an embroidery needle works fine) to sew it shut. Fill the glove with dry rice, then tuck the cuff inside.

2. Stitch all along the cuff’s edge, then pull the thread tightly to close the top. Knot the thread.

3. Step 3 Sew or hot-glue a large pom-pom to the top of the glove. At the base of the quadropus — where the glove’s fingers attach to the palm — pinch the sides together and sew a few stitches to hold them, as shown. This will help make the body rounder.

4. Step 4 To make the tentacles, attach buttons to the undersides of the four fingers with hot glue. Sew or hot-glue on button eyes and a felt mouth. Make earrings by threading stacks of buttons onto pieces of wire; tie ribbon around the pom-pom for a head scarf, or add a felt brim to the pom-pom for a hat.

I have been thinking about some projects I want to sew next. I have wanted a cover for my stand mixer, so that is on my list. I want to make a book bag. I have the blankets down, but I want to do an actual quilt. This will be a challenge and will have to recruit my cousin in to help me with that!

Knitting is still a thorn in my side, but alas, the arm is still telling me no. Darn arm! So sewing, baking and maybe some scrapbooking is the only crafting I am able to do right now.

I wish I would have held onto some of John’s old jeans, as I could have cut out some squares and made a patchwork quilt with them. I am going to go through my old jeans and see if I can use them. One of my favorite pairs of jeans, split the other day, and I am so very bummed! I thought I could possibly save them, but they are a no go. So I am searching for some patterns online for different things to convert jeans into, like purses and such.

I want to try my hand at converting a pair of jeans to a skirt. I know I will have questions, so I will be calling my cousin for sure. I found an easy looking tutorial, that might be my friend in the coming weeks.

Or maybe hit the thrift stores and find some ties and try making this skirt

Does anyone sew mens ties? I want to make something for my hubby, and thought this might be something quick and simple to make. I am getting ready to surf the net to see if I can find any free patterns, before I head out to the fabric store tomorrow. I am itching to break out the sewing machine again, I can only make so many blankets. I need to tackle a pattern to get over my fear of it. I would rather be knitting, but my arm is still not cooperating with me.

Now if I had a girl, I think it would be fun to try and make a dress. I am itching to sew some sort of clothing item. I am going to go check out some patterns for a sundress tomorrow, and hoping to find some cute fabric that won’t cost to much.

My hubby that is. He wants to build an amplifier. He has had this idea in his head for sometime now, and now that we have our taxes back, he wants to start buying all the parts he needs to get started. I just want to know when he thinks he will have time to do this!?!

He has a guitar in the works, that he is making for his nephew. Our kitchen ceiling is only half done. He wants to put the house up for sale, and now wants to work on an amp. Hmmm… wonder when he will get all of these tasks done!?! I am anxious to see how the guitar comes out. The last few ones he made turned out awesome! I just wish he would have kept the bass one he made, as it was beautiful, and he put alot of time into that one. But he blessed a friend with it, so that is all that matters I guess!

Now for me, I want to check out the sales on fabric, as sewing has become one of my new addictions. I am hoping to master some patterns, but they scare me! So in the mean time I am happy making blankets. I already know what I am going to be making for Christmas presents this year! I may even have them all done before Summer even gets here. This will be my mission!

I had it tucked away, as I thought it was too complicated to do. How wrong I was! It was so easy! Now granted, I am not a sewer at all, so my lines are less than perfect, but I finished it and am happy with it. I have to wash it yet, and hoping that the cut edges fray like it says it will!

Being out of commission for doing my crafts, I need to find something else to do to occupy my time. I was thinking about possibly getting started with sewing, as that doesn’t require the use of both hands the whole time. I have a few things I bought material for way back when, that has been sitting around. Time to call my cousin to have her help me.

I could just become a couch potato and have my hubby get some KVM switches, and other gadgets and hook me up to all sorts of fun things that I could do hands free. I would like one of those things that you talk into that will then type out what you say. This would come in so very handy right now!

Or I could just dive into all the books that are starting to come in at the library, and just read, read, read. I did do some baking today, made some banana bread and plan on making some banana pudding in a little bit. Have to use up the rotten nanners. Don’t want to throw them out, to wasteful!

My crafting has come to a halt again. My arm finally gave out, and I am putting off calling the doctor to get another shot. One reason, money, the other reason, I just don't want a shot. I know that is what I need to be able to use my arm again, but dang, it hurts! The disability appeal at times sounds great, but lets face it.. there is no disability when you have your own business!

I have a few projects I want to get started on, but just can't work a needle right now. I am wondering if breaking out the sewing machine might be a good thing right now. I did just find a Snoopy baby blanket that I could try and make. I think a phone call to my cousin might be in order again, to have her help me with this, or at least have her help me with it.
