What a dreary day! Not much was accomplished today. I could have been knitting or sewing, but I have laid around, read some, surfed the internet and napped. I have some pronexin reviews to do along with a few book reviews to finish.

I received in the mail today a newsletter from Debbie Macomber, one of my favorite authors, and in it was a pattern for a baby blanket. I may have to give it a try, but need to go get some circular needles first. I hope I can finish it in a timely manner!

I have been trying to knit here and there, and finally finished this hat. It should have taken me only a day or so to complete, but the the arm, it took over 4 weeks! Yes I had been pushing it, but darn it.. I want to knit!

It seems every where you go these days all the talk you hear is there really any affordable health insurance? I say no! Unless you are my son, he has some darn good insurance! It almost makes me want to go out and get a job at a well know retail store (that is known across the country!) But that would mean I would have less time do any of my crafts.

I have been trying to knit, even if its a row here and a row there. The other day I knit about 5 rows at one sitting and could really feel it later that day/night. I need to get this arm fixed before COBRA runs out and we are left with no insurance…. I don’t want the government insurance!

Knitting

Knitting has been a passion of mine for the last ten years, but I think I first got the itch to knit when I was watching shows like “Little House on the Prairie” and other old! It inspired me watching those ladies (and kids) just fly with those needles! I won’t lie, when I first started to knit, I was frustrated to the point of throwing the needles away and said, “Enough!”

I have been watching the reruns of Little House, after hearing that Merlin Olsen died. He was one of my favorites, and was shocked to hear that he died of cancer. Its so unfair that the mesothelioma life expectancy is so short. I have read some articles on his saying that he and his wife are suing NBC and other companies for negligently exposing them to asbestos.

Cancer just sucks! My hubby just lost an uncle to cancer, which really effected his dad. He is slowly coming around, I just hope he doesn’t have a relapse of the illness he had last year.

Dish cloth

I am looking for new patterns to knit, (when I can) and will have alot of them once I am able to knit.

Mirrored Triangles Dishcloth

Materials: Bernat Handicrafter worsted weight cotton yarn, size 4.5mm needles.

Abbreviations used:
lt left twist (pass needle behind first st, knit into back of sceond st leaving it on needle, knit first and second stitches together through the back loop and slip from needle)
rt right twist (pass needle in front of first st, knit into second st leaving it on needle, knit first st and slip both sts from needle).

Directions:
Cast on 38 stitches
Knit 4 rows of Garter stitch.
Knit first 3 stitches and last 3 stitches of every row.

Row 1: (right side) K4, *rt, lt, K6; repeat from * to last 4 sts, k4. (Remember to add the 3 stitches to each end)
Row 2, 4 and 6: Purl.
Row 3: K3, *rt, K2, lt, K4; repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3.
Row 5: K2, * rt, K4, lt, K2; repeat from * across.
Row 7: K1, *rt, K6, lt; repeat from * to last st, K1.
Row 8: K2, * P8, K2; repeat from * across.
Row 9: P2, * K8, P2; repeat from * across.
Row 10: Knit.
Row 11: Repeat Row 9.
Row 12: Knit.
Row 13: Repeat Row 9.
Row 14: Repeat Row 8.
Row 15: K1, *lt, K6, rt; repeat from * to last st, K1.
Row 16, 18 and 20: Purl.
Row 17: K2, * lt, K4, rt, K2; repeat from * across.
Row 19: K3, * lt, K2, rt, K4; repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3.
Row 21: K4, * lt, rt, K6; repeat from * to last 4 sts, K4.

Repeat Rows 1 thru 21 once more, knit 4 more rows of garter stitch. Cast off.

I bought this yarn a while ago, in hopes to make this hat for a friends baby, and it still sits here staring at me. I so want to pick up the needles and knit anyways, pain or no pain! I just found out another friend is pregnant and due around Halloween, so hopefully closer to that date, I can knit again!

Ties

Does anyone sew mens ties? I want to make something for my hubby, and thought this might be something quick and simple to make. I am getting ready to surf the net to see if I can find any free patterns, before I head out to the fabric store tomorrow. I am itching to break out the sewing machine again, I can only make so many blankets. I need to tackle a pattern to get over my fear of it. I would rather be knitting, but my arm is still not cooperating with me.

Knitted toys

I have found some really cute knitting patterns for some baby toys that I want to try and make. I have several friends who are very preggo right now so these would make for some great gifts!

I am going to give knitting a try this week, hopefully I can do it. My arm hasn’t been as sore, but who knows what it will feel like once I pick up the needles again. I won’t have to go out and buy any yarn, as I have bags and bags of it in the front entry way just waiting to made into something great!
