A room of my own! Yay!! I will finally be getting my hobby room back in place! I have many ideas of how I want to decorate. One of the first things I plan on doing is splitting off the cable from my bedroom (I can do this now that Trent will be moving to the other bedroom), and will be looking into an HDTV flat screen to put in there. I don’t want to miss out on any of my favorite shows while busy working on all my projects! I would love to get another DVR box, but don’t think I can justify the added expense to our already stretched budget with me not working anymore.

Stay tuned to further updates, hopefully with before and after pictures!

I want to learn how to make quilts. My cousin has been making them for years now, and I have been begging her to show me how. I just need to find the time when I can get up to her place for her to show me. I have made a few blankets, by just sewing some blocks together, but want to know how to do the real quilting.

I thought for sure with this last month of me being off, I would have had time to get over there, but the days just flew on by! Ugh! Maybe over the winter I will find the time.

Home projects are going to start again, oh joy! We have to finish up the bathroom, repair the hole in the wall, then re-doing the floor and painting. I am hoping to tackle our room, as its still the only room in the house that has yet to be re-done. John is working on some shelves for me, got to love a handy man! The curtains I made a while back are ok, but I want to make some new ones.

If we can get the oldest to move out, I can re-do his room and make it my craft room, or a game/TV room Or maybe a combination of both. I have wanted a surround sound system for a while and this would be the perfect room for it. But then again, the hubby might just want to have it down in the living room. We will have to fight it out to see who wins.

So many changes we want to get done in the house, so its ready to be put on the market in the spring. Hopefully there won’t be any construction then, as I don’t know if we will wait it out to put it on like we had to do this time around.

I am hoping for some nice holiday sales will be going on this weekend, so we can get all of our supplies to get started on the projects.

I want to find a new dining room table. The one we have has seen better days, well the chairs anyways. Not sure what my hubby will say, but I am ready for a change. I want to redo the whole dining room, we have the painting done, so now its time for the rest. I am checking the sale ads for the perfect dining room set. I’d like to get one like my in laws that have several extensions and lots of chairs. Then we can start having the family over here for family dinners, to give my in laws a break.

I like this one, but wish it had extra extensions. I am still holding out for my in laws to buy a new one so we can have their old one, even thought they said we don’t want it. Oh but I do! I will have ample room to do my crafts, until I get my craft room, either in this house or our next house.

I want to make some curtains for the dining room as well, my sewing is getting a little better. Almost can sew a straight line! I need to practice some more and then I think I will have the hang of it. Or I could just hire my cousin to do all my sewing!

Its time I get back into my crafts. I love baking and cooking, but I need to get my creative juices flowing in my other hobbies. I have bags and bins full of yarn that is just waiting to be made into something. My pictures are stacking up, or should I say they are piling up in folders on the computer. I don’t even want to know how much its going to cost me to print them. Any who…

My list:
* baby blanket to knit
* baby sweater to knit
* dish towels and wash cloths to knit/crochet
* afgan to knit (with all the leftover yarn)
* sweater to knit
* books to read (for reviews)
* I need to figure out what conjugated linoleic acid cla is, as it came up in a book I was reading pertaining to my health.
* tank tops to alter by sewing
* jeans to hem
* Photography – look for new poses and spots to take pictures

I am going to be very busy over the next several weeks.

Christopher is working on getting his own place and wants to know if I could make his some custom slipcovers for the furniture we have in the garage for him. Hmmm, not sure if this is something that I can possibly do. I think he would be better off checking around and buying some that are already made. My sewing is less than to be desired! I can’t sew a straight line to save my life!

He also thinks he will be taking all the boxes we have been saving in the garage as well, for if and when we finally sell our house and move. Thankfully our neighbor said he can get us all the boxes we would ever need!

I am ready to sit out on the deck and enjoy out meals out there. I want to make a cute planter that I can fit around the umbrella post. I have a pattern for some place mats I want to make, but not sure if I can make them for less than what I can buy them in the store.

I was out there yesterday, and Trent just laughed at me, as I had brought out the laptop. Hey, gotta get my computer fix in and enjoy the weather too! Along with the laptop, I had my book and phone.

Have some “single gloves” laying around and want a fun craft to do, try this out…

Materials

        * Single glove
* Needle and thread
* Dry rice
* Hot glue
* Large pom-pom
* Buttons
* Wire
* Ribbon
* Felt

Instructions

1. First, tuck the thumb inside the glove and use a needle and thread (an embroidery needle works fine) to sew it shut. Fill the glove with dry rice, then tuck the cuff inside.

2. Stitch all along the cuff’s edge, then pull the thread tightly to close the top. Knot the thread.

3. Step 3 Sew or hot-glue a large pom-pom to the top of the glove. At the base of the quadropus — where the glove’s fingers attach to the palm — pinch the sides together and sew a few stitches to hold them, as shown. This will help make the body rounder.

4. Step 4 To make the tentacles, attach buttons to the undersides of the four fingers with hot glue. Sew or hot-glue on button eyes and a felt mouth. Make earrings by threading stacks of buttons onto pieces of wire; tie ribbon around the pom-pom for a head scarf, or add a felt brim to the pom-pom for a hat.

I have the blankets down, but I want to do an actual quilt. This will be a challenge and will have to recruit my cousin in to help me with that!

Knitting is still a thorn in my side, but alas, the arm is still telling me no. Darn arm! So sewing, baking and maybe some scrapbooking is the only crafting I am able to do right now.

I wish I would have held onto some of John’s old jeans, as I could have cut out some squares and made a patchwork quilt with them. I am going to go through my old jeans and see if I can use them. One of my favorite pairs of jeans, split the other day, and I am so very bummed! I thought I could possibly save them, but they are a no go. So I am searching for some patterns online for different things to convert jeans into, like purses and such.

I want to try my hand at converting a pair of jeans to a skirt. I know I will have questions, so I will be calling my cousin for sure. I found an easy looking tutorial, that might be my friend in the coming weeks.

Or maybe hit the thrift stores and find some ties and try making this skirt
