Scrapbooking supplies
I love getting free stuff in the mail. I was eagerly waiting for the mail man to bring me my Bzz kit with some new scrapbooking supplies. They finally came!!
In this kit are:
* 2 pairs of X-ACTO decorative edge scissors
* 1 X-ACTO corner rounder
* 1 Elmer’s craftbond permanent tape runner
* 1 Elmer’s craftbond clear glue pen
* 1 Elmer’s craftbond all purpose glue stick
* Assortment of glue spots
I love the fact that they are coming out with less expensive products to preserve our memories. The Elmer products range anywhere from $2 to $9, and the X-ACTO products range from $2 to $20. I am anxiously awaiting the completion of my hobby room. As soon as the oldest moves out, I will be fixing up the room, then I can rip open these fun new products and get back into scrapbooking!
Here is the complete line of Elmer’s and X-ACTO products:

Babies
A few friends and relatives are getting ready to have their babies, while its exciting I am so glad I am past the baby stage! I do love looking at baby stuff that is on sale. The cribs they have now are just goregeous! And the bedding, oh so cute! I am working on a lady bug pattern, for a knitted toy, and am hoping to have it done by the time my cousin has her baby. One of my other friends, I have to wait and see, as she is being so “selfish” in not wanting to know the sex of the baby until the big day! So in the mean time I will be browsing lots of knitting sites looking for the perfect patterns for gender neutral items. I have lots of patterns booked marked, just waiting to be printed… but… our printer is on the fritz. I would love to have one like this:
I will be adding it to my ever growing wish list. This might be one of the items that gets purchased first, as my hubby is getting frustrated with it not printing like it should. Hmmm, wonder what else I could get to act up, so he buys it quicker!?!
Apple pie
I made an apple pie this weekend. I am very happy with how it turned out. Usually my edges are very dark brown, but not this time!
Ingredients
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
* 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 7 cups thinly sliced pared apples
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 1 Pastry for double-crust pie (9 inches)
* 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
* 1 egg white
* Additional sugar
Directions
1. In a small bowl, combine sugar, flour and spices; set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture; toss well to coat. Line a 9-in. pie pan with half the pastry. Place apple filling into crust; dot with butter. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie. Cut a few slits in top. beat egg white until foamy; brush over pastry. Sprinkle sugar on top. Bake at 375 degrees F for 35 minutes. Increase temperature to 400 degrees F and bake 10-15 minutes more or until golden.
Shopping for a new apartment
I love browsing the weekly sales on my favorite site, buy dot com. I have a serious wish list going on right now, so hoping my hubby gets a nice bonus at Christmas! I will keep drooling over all the items I want, but for now I need to find things to get (and let my son know about) for my oldests new apartment. I am so looking forward to the day he moves out, so I can start working on my new hobby room! I have so many ideas of how I want to decorate this room!!
I have a few odds and ends items at the house he can have, but knowing him, he will want all new, and high end. Sorry bud, for now I will get you these pots and pans.
I am also going to have a house warming box made up with all of the condiments, some kitchen towels and paper products to get him started. After this he will be on his own!
He’s pretty much set for furniture, as he is getting all of our old living room furniture, his bedroom furniture and he has his own TV (which is so much bigger than my own, *sigh*). He can search for a dining room table, either on sale, or garage sales when they start back up in the Spring.
