Vacation

Vacation day. We are heading out to Frankenmuth to do some sight seeing, shopping and fun in a water park. I am hoping they have some good sales. I am still working on my hubby, as he is not sure he is going to go in the water park with us. This is supposed to be a time for us to relax, and take our minds off of the things that are going on right now.  I am still trying to figure out what else we can do for tomorrow.  I know I will have to do some laundry and get groceries, but will need something else to do that is fun.  Maybe a road trip to destinations unknown.

I would like to buy one of these camera lens. I had fun playing around with my camera last night at the beach, but would have loved to have a wide angle lens. There were so many people out last night at the beach, getting pictures of the sunset. Many with huge cameras, and lenses. I wish I would have thought to grab my tripod, but I got some great shots none the less.

I need to get the guys up and moving, otherwise we won't be getting out of Grand Rapids, and I am ready to go now!

Better-Than-Almost-Anything Cake

Found this yummy looking dessert in my email inbox this week, and will be making this very, very soon!

Yum!

1   box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® German chocolate cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
1   can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1   jar (16 to 17 oz) caramel, butterscotch or fudge topping
1   container (8 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
1   bag (8 oz) toffee chips or bits

1.  Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Bake cake as directed on box for 13×9-inch pan.
2.  Poke top of warm cake every 1/2 inch with handle of wooden spoon. Drizzle milk evenly over top of cake; let stand until milk has been absorbed into cake. Drizzle with caramel topping. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen cake. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled.
3.  Spread whipped topping over top of cake. Sprinkle with toffee chips. Store covered in refrigerator.

Make the Most of This Recipe

Success
The cake may stick to the wooden spoon handle while you’re using it to make the holes, so occasionally wipe off the handle.

Did You Know…
The caramel topping will be easier to drizzle if it has been kept at room temperature. If refrigerated, remove the lid and microwave on High about 15 seconds.

Special Touch
Instead of the toffee chips or bits, coarsely chop 5 bars (1.4 oz each) chocolate-covered English toffee candy, and sprinkle on top of the cake.

Games

I have some birthdays that I need to buy some gifts for. I just with that they would have some sales on the Wii games. It kinda makes a dent in the ole pocket book. I will be getting the Tiger Woods golf game for my father in law. His birthday has come and gone already, and where did he spend it??  In the hospital.  He is still in there, so I have some time yet before I have to go out and buy this.  Not sure when he will have enough strength to actually play this, but I want it to be at the house for when he does finally come home!

I would like to get some more workout games.  I do have to admit that I have become addicted to the Wii.  I never was able to play any of these video game systems with the boys because of my veritgo, but so far… knock on wood…  this system hasn't effected me. I need to get myself up earlier in the morning so I can get back into my routine of the Wii fit.  I have slacked way to much here as of late.

The oldest told me to check into the Sims, as he thinks I will like that much better than the game I play on facebook.  I don't know.  I love the one I play right now, not sure I need another addiction… my hubby just might divorce me.

EMPS #46: SEEN IN SUMMER
Pretty simple this week. Show me something seen in SUMMER. There is a lot to see and find when the weather is nice, so go out into the world and show me summer through your eyes. I am not going to give you examples this week, I want you to put on your thinking caps and come up with something. What says SUMMER to you? NO ARCHIVED PHOTOS THIS WEEK!

Extra Credit: Let’s keep the dialog flowing. It’s good to share our creative process, so write one paragraph about the photo you chose to take. Tell us all about it.

EMPS #46A. SOMETHING WARM.
If you don’t happen to live in the part of the world that is experiencing Summer, then please take a photo out in the world this week of something warm!

Extra Credit: Same as everyone else. Tell us about your photo in one paragraph.

**PLEASE READ**
This Monday Photo Shoot Assignment closes next Sunday, at 9:00 PM ET. So you have nearly a whole week to get your photo and comeback here with the direct link back to your entry. I have never been one much for the outdoor weather in the summer. But in the last few years things have changed. I love being outside. This summer the weather has been ok, not as warm as it really should be for the middle of July. The first 2 pictures are from our camping trip this summer. Roasting marshmellows is a must for camping. There wasn’t a lake at the campsite, but they did have a pool, and that is where we spent the day. The last 2 pics are from our weekly beach outing. The boys wanted to be buried, so we buried them. We are heading out there again tomorrow.

Camping

I am giving tent camping one more try this summer. But what I really want is an rv. It doesn't have to be a big one, a pop up camper would be just fine too. I would like to be able to do some cooking on a stove, as opposed to an open fire and those tiny camp stoves. I would also have an area to actually store all the camping gear so it would free up the much needed room in our tiny basement at home.

I have been browsing craigslist to see if I can find one in our budget range, but so far no such luck.  There is one down the road from us that is for sale, but not quite sure I want to take out a loan for it.  I don't want to have any debt outside of our truck and home right now.  It took me long enough to get us debt free, I don't want to start over again.  So I guess I will start finding ways to earn some money to save up for one for next year.
