Mmmmm….
Today I had the baking class, and it was all about breads! We made wheat bread, English muffin bread, cinnamon rolls, some cheesy bread – that we made into crescent rolls, and then some stromboli, that had turkey/swiss/broccoli/cheddar cheese in it. The morning went by very fast. We all got to sample the goodies, and oh boy! did they ever taste wonderful! I am going to have to find some diet pills or do some extra exercising this next week!
I brought home two pans of cinnamon rolls, and the guys were drooling. They had to wait, as they still had to rise before I could bake them. With in 15 minutes of me taking them out of the oven they have devoured half of one of the pans. They said no more store bought cinnamon rolls. We shall see.
Pictures
I need to get a second compact flash memory card for my camera, to have on hand. If I would have had this a few months ago I wouldn't have lost all the pics I had to delete off the one in my camera. I was having issues with my laptop, so I tried to burn all the pictures on to some CD's, in thinking that I had them all on the CD's, I went ahead and deleted all the pictures, all 2500 of them! Still am in shock I took that many in such a short time. In total I have taken over 4000 pictures in a year. I am bummed that I lost the ones I took of Trent and a friends little girl in some summer photo shoots. I will just have to do some more this coming summer, after I get a second card!
A trip
I have a trip in the making… yay! Some friends and I are trying to plan out a trip to Chicago around by birthday. We have been wanting to do a girls weekend for a while now. I hope we can all coordinate a weekend that we all can go. I am going to have to dig out my luggage and clean it off. It has been in the basement, and the hubby has been doing lots of woodwork down there, so I am sure it is covered in sawdust.
While in Chi town we are going to head on over to IKEA. I have wanted to go there for some time now. I would like to see what they have for organizers, as I need something for all the yarn I have been collecting lately. What fun this is going to be!!!
Freebies!
Gotta love deals on pet supplies! Tonight after working out Robyn and I stopped at Wally World to get a few things, cat food was one thing on her list. She grabbed the kitten chow that had the sticker price of $5, when we checked out it rang up for $7.37. We didn't say anything, as we were going to go to the customer service desk to get the overage and the Michigan scan fee. Not only did she get her cat food for free, she made 14 cents too boot!!
Fixing things
I have a project for my hubby to work on, he's not going to like me this time. I want to do some adjusting on our tv stand. I would like to bring down our oldest sons HDTV. The opening in our entertainment center is just an inch shy of it fitting in. So I would like for him to move the one wall, shorten some of the shelves and make the top shelf longer, so we can put the DVD player, VCR, stereo on that shelf and move the gaming systems in the area where the stereo used to be.
Saving money
In the past I have been one who goes out and buys what I want, no matter the cost. But all that came to an end last March. I had made the decision to close my daycare last year, which was, at the time a blessing. But in doing that I had to make some changes in my spending habits as well as our family budget. I have a dear friend who helped my family budget out tremendously, and I will be forever in debt to her for this. She turned me on to thrift store shopping, and brought back my love of garage saleing.
I am now all about finding the best sale possible. I no longer buy my clothing at full price, it has to be on sale, and at a really good price too! Just today I saved quite a bit on my fabric softener. I was going to buy it a few days ago, but decided to wait until I got groceries, and sure enough, it was on sale, and I had a great coupon so it cost me next to nothing! So glad I waited.
I am now in the market to get a Flip Camcorder. I want to be able to do "how to" videos with the different craft projects I do here on this blog. I have been checking out different stores, and websites, but haven't found that earth shattering deal yet! But I will. I may just have to put this on my wish list for my birthday.
I have several projects in the wings for different knitting items so I will be browsing the paper on Sunday to see who has yarn on sale, and if any have coupons, if they do, I will have to remember to ask my mother in law and sister in law to save them for me!
Raspberry Dessert
John's aunt made this wonderful dessert for Christmas. I asked her for the recipe and finally received it in an email today. I can't wait to try it out!
Raspberry Dessert
Crust
2 ¼ cups crushed pretzels
3 tsps. sugar (or 1 Tbsp.)
¾ cup margarine (I use 1 stick.)
Place in 9 x 13 pan and bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
8 oz cream cheese, softened. Beat until fluffy. Beat in 1 cup of sugar. Fold in one 8 oz carton Cool Whip. Pour over crust.
Dissolve two 3 oz packages Jello (raspberry) in 2 cups boiling water. Add 12 oz frozen raspberries. Stir until well mixed. Cool for just a little while. Then pour over cream cheese mixture. Refrigerate.
Enjoy!
